Description
The 1960s PS System designed by Preben Sorensen and produced by Randers is a Scandinavian classic which combines superb craftsmanship, high quality materials and functionality. The set showcases beautiful high-quality rosewood and rosewood veneer, which is highly valued for its rarity, rich color and distinctive grain patterns. It also ensures sturdiness and longevity. Masterful joinery is especially visible in nicely sculpted solid wood handles and dove-tailed drawers’ fronts, a demanding and rare technique of joining wood in today’s furniture.
The console can be also used as a compact desk, creating an intimate, unobtrusive space for studying or working. The combination of shelves, dresser and console makes this wall unit an excellent storage option for your studio, living room, or bedroom, offering functionality without compromising on style or space. This shelving system is entirely modular; all parts can be interchanged and set up as desired, using an easy system with brass hangers inserted into solid wood rails. The shown setup is just an example.
The set consists of:
- a dresser: H: 50 / W: 80 / D: 45 cm (internal height of drawers: 9.5 cm)
- a console/compact desk: H: 14 / W: 50 / D: 30 cm (internal height of drawer: 9.5 cm)
- 6 shelves: W: 80 / D: 30 cm
- 6 wooden rails: each 100 cm long
Despite the passage of several decades, the wall unit remains in excellent original condition. The drawers operate smoothly, and all components fit together perfectly. The wood has been cleaned and protected with professional compounds, and the hardware has been polished. While the hangers have washers that are likely not original, the system remains fully functional, and the washers add a unique charm.
