Description

Extremely elegant and functional 2-bay wall unit in rosewood designed by Poul Cadovius for Royal Systems (later renamed as Cado) – his own furniture company. This modular shelving universe had a profound effect on mid-century design in the 1950s and 1960s.

One spacious cabinet with inner shelf and nicely integrated handles provide ample storage space, and five shelves help display books and decorations. Free hanging compact desk with two small finger-jointed drawers for documents and accessories is an excellent alternative to a traditional desk and ideal for a home office space. It can be placed in a bedroom or a living room, saving space and providing a remote working area.

The set features brilliant carpentry and showcases exceptionally rich rosewood grain. The cabinets are exquisitely framed by the slightly sloping edge profile.

Cadovius considered the Cado system one of his most exclusive and successful designs. The system is very easy to mount on the wall, with each component fitted onto dowel holes without any visible suspension. The system is entirely modular, allowing all components to be arranged as desired. The shown setup is just an example.

a cabinet: H: 56 / W: 80 / D: 24 cm
a compact desk with drawers: H: 11 /W: 80/ D: 48 cm (inside height of drawers: 5 cm)
3 shelves: W: 80 / D: 22 cm
2 shelves: W: 80 / D: 30 cm
3 wooden rails: 205 cm long each

The wall unit has been checked by our team. It is in excellent vintage condition. The original “Made in Denmark” engraving is preserved, confirming the authenticity of the set. We have made sure that all the mechanisms work properly and smoothly. The wood has been refreshed with professional compounds.

The wall unit is a truly fine example of the highest quality Danish carpentry and design from the mid-century era.
