Description
Rare and functional oak wall unit, with back panels, designed by Poul Cadovius for Cado – his own furniture company. It is one of the designer’s whos modular shelving systems have had a profound effect on mid-century design in the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
Seven shelves and a glass vitrine provide enough space for exposing decorations. The vitrine can also be used as a bookcase, protecting books from dust. A compact desk creates a nice, discreet working space. Honey colour oak back panels add a mid century look and introduce a warm wood to interior. Beside the funcional advantages the unit becomes a large decoration on the wall.
Cadovius considered the Cado system one of his most exclusive and successful designs. The system is very easy to mount on the wall, with each component fitted onto dowel holes without any visible suspension. The system is entirely modular, allowing the components to be arranged as desired. Each part can be moved every 4.5 cm up or down. The shown setup is just an example.
The set consists of:
- a vitrine: H: 56 / W: 80 / D: 22 cm
- 7 shelves: W: 80 / D: 22 cm
- a compact desk: W: 80 / D: 38 cm
- 2 back panels: H: 205/ W: 80 cm
The wall unit has been checked by our team. It is in excellent vintage condition. We have made sure that all the mechanisms work properly and smoothly. The wood has been refreshed with professional compounds.
We leave minor signs of use that do not spoil the aesthetic and only confirm its originality. We try to bring furniture back to its best look, still considering they are 60 years old.
