Description
This set of two Cesca chairs by Marcel Breuer originates from Italy and was most likely produced in the 1970s. It represents an iconic blend of form and function, embodying the pioneering spirit of modernist design. Designed in 1928 by Breuer, a master of the Bauhaus school, the Cesca chair is celebrated for its innovative use of materials and elegant simplicity.
These particular Cesca chairs feature a natural beech frame with a light color throughout, enhancing their sleek and airy aesthetic. The natural beech adds durability and a subtle, warm tone that perfectly complements the minimalist design. The frames are crafted from tubular steel, showcasing Breuer’s revolutionary use of this material to create a seamless, cantilevered design. This construction not only provides exceptional comfort and support but also gives the chairs their distinctive, timeless silhouette.
These Cesca chairs are equipped with armrests, offering additional comfort. The seats and backs are made from woven cane, a natural material that complements the light color scheme and adds a touch of warmth and texture to the design. This combination of steel, beech, and cane highlights the balance between industrial and organic elements that Breuer mastered. Most of the Cesca chairs manufactured in Italy from the 1950s to the modern day were not officially licensed. However, the quality of Italian craftsmanship of the mid-20th century proves that these chairs are both durable and exceptionally well-made.
Despite the passage of time, the set remains in perfect original condition. Absolutely minimal signs of use are present, which is typical for furniture of this age. We have only cleaned them, ensuring they can serve in their full charm for the coming decades.
Additional dimensions:
- armrests height: 72 cm
- seat height: 45 cm
