Description
This exceptionally rare freestanding wall unit with a bar cabinet, attributed to Ico Parisi, was crafted in Italy during the 1950s. Its unparalleled design makes it a captivating, sculpture-like addition to any interior.
Parisi was known for his refined craftsmanship, clean lines and sophisticated simplicity. The results of his bold experiments with different materials, including wood, metal, and glass are visible in this striking yet functional piece. Due to the deatils and very resemble carpentry, we believe he was behind the design of this sofisticated piece.
The front of the bar cabinet, composed of two independent parts decorated with oak and teak veneers, creates an imaginative, geometric puzzle. Thanks to the functional support integrated into the cabinet’s front, a drop-down part effortlessly transforms into a handy tabletop for serving cocktails and drinks.
Elegance on the outside, coupled with the unexpected richness of colors and shapes inside the cabinet, gives the impression of unwrapping a box of chocolates. The red laminate coating not only protects the wood from damage but also makes it easy to clean. The bright, yellow color and geometric pattern of the laminate inside the cabinet, combined with mirror and black glass at the bottom, shows the Italian spirit of the mid-century era.
In addition to the bar cabinet, the wall unit offers ample display space for other items such as books and decorative objects. Wooden side panels not only provide stability but with their interesting, geometric, streamlined shapes, they are also decorative.
Our team has checked the wall unit. It remains in very good original vintage condition consistent with its age and use. We have made sure that the opening mechanism works smoothly. The interior has been cleaned and the wood rejuvenated with professional compounds.
