Description
This extremely elegant and comfortable executive desk chair was produced by Sibast and designed by Arne Vodder, a Danish architect and furniture designer renowned for his contributions to the mid-century modern design movement.
The chair, known also as model 431, reflects the clean lines, organic shapes, and simplicity characteristic of Scandinavian design. It features an exquisite combination of luxurious materials, with armrests and a base made from rosewood, known for its intricate grain patterns. The chair has been reupholstered in soft, high-quality Italian aniline leather in a light brown-cognac color that beautifully complements the rosewood, giving the chair a warm, elegant appearance. The blend of these materials with metal details adds a touch of modernity to the design.
The chair includes tilting mechanism and height adjustment. The addition of wheels further enhances its practicality, allowing for easy mobility in an office setting.
Arne Vodder’s designs, including his work for Sibast, played a significant role in promoting Danish modernism internationally, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. His pieces are now regarded as iconic examples of the era and continue to influence contemporary furniture design.
The chair is in excellent renovated condition. We have exchanged it for new high-quality aniline leather, so it looks aesthetically pleasing and will last for many more years gaining patina with time. The mechanisms work properly and smoothly. The wood has been polished.
There is a trace of a producer stamp under the seat.
