Description
Visually appealing and extremely functional, this free-standing teak wall unit was designed and produced in the 1960s by the Danish design duo – Rud Thygesen & Johnny Sørensen and made by Hansen & Guldborg (HG Furniture). Their work is characterized by clean lines, quality craftsmanship, and minimalist aesthetic.
Designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional, this freestanding bookcase is crafted from warm hue teak wood, showcasing a beautiful wood grain pattern on both the exterior and interior of the cabinets. The use of high-quality teak wood and teak venner ensures the durability and longevity of the piece. Attention to detail, especially evident in the nicely sculpted handles, showcases the artistry of Danish craftsmen.
This wall unit features two spacious cabinets with height-adjustable inner shelves, one dresser with ten drawers, one divided cabinet consisting of a smaller dresser and secretaire, and seven adjustable shelves. This combination of open shelving with closed cabinets and dressers offers a versatile mix of display and storage options, making it ideal for living rooms or offices where both aesthetics and organization are crucial.
The set consists of:
- two cabinets: H: 49 / W: 89 / D: 40 cm
- a dresser: H: 49 / W: 89 / D: 40 cm (drawers height: 8 cm)
- a cabinet with drawers and secretaire: H: 49 / W: 89 / D: 30 cm (depth when fully opened: 66 cm; drawers height: 7 cm)

*height from the ground: 22 cm
Components that are hung on wooden rails are movable, allowing for customization of storage solutions according to individual needs.
Typically, Hansen and Guldborg wall units are mounted on the wall, making this freestanding piece a unique and rare find. Our team has checked the bookcase, and it remains in excellent original condition with minimal signs of use considering its age. The stamp of “DANISH FURNITUREMAKERS QUALITY” located on the furniture certifies its authenticity and high-quality craftsmanship. The wood has been cleaned and protected with layers of Danish oil to enhance the natural beauty of the wood grain.
