  • Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) — Known as the “master of the chair,” he created over 500 designs for Getama, Carl Hansen, and PP Møbler. His furniture combines traditional cabinetmaking with modern form.

Scandinavian design and mid-century modern — what’s the difference?

Although the terms are often used interchangeably, there are subtle differences. Mid-century modern is a broader concept encompassing modernist design from 1945–1969 worldwide — including the USA and Brazil. Scandinavian design focuses on the Nordic region and places greater emphasis on light, bright colors, and organic natural materials.
