Set of four Cesca chairs, Italy, 1970s.
Description
The stunning set of four and globally renowned Cesca chairs, designed in the late 1920s by Marcel Breuer, is still manufactured today. This set of four chairs originates from Italy, most likely dating back to the 1970s.
They feature beautiful caning in fantastic vintage condition with a lovely patina (golden/straw color), set upon black varnished beech frames supported by chrome-plated metal structures.
The aged color of the caning is what makes them special and very desirable. We additionally cleaned the seats and covered the caning with a thin coat of shellack. They will add a vintage charm to any interior
These chairs are in excellent original condition, displaying minor age-related signs, and are fully functional.
Three of the chairs have extra reinforcements of the frame installed on the underside of the seat frame, which are not visible from the top but are not original They have survived half of a century and they will survive another few decades. Modern copies usually fall apart after a couple of years.
