Description
Visually appealing and extremely functional, this freestanding teak wall unit was designed and produced in Norway during the late 1950s or early 1960s. It is characterized by organic lines, quality craftsmanship, and a minimalist aesthetic.
Crafted from warm-hued teak wood, this freestanding bookcase showcases a beautiful wood grain pattern on both the exterior and interior of the cabinets. The use of high-quality teak wood and teak veneer ensures the durability and longevity of the piece. Attention to detail is evident in the nicely sculpted handles and slightly rounded edges, reflecting the artistry of Scandinavian craftsmen. The minimalist vertical supports and tapered legs add visual interest and give it a lighter, more airy presence without compromising stability. The unique montage system uses metal pins hidden within the wooden structure, making the junction points of the components nearly invisible.
This wall unit features two spacious cabinets with drawers, a vitrine, a smaller cabinet for storage, five adjustable shelves, and a drop-front door cabinet that can be used as a bar cabinet or a secretaire, creating a discreet home-office space. This combination of open shelving with closed cabinets offers a versatile mix of display and storage options, ideal for living rooms or offices where aesthetics and organization are crucial.
The set includes:
- A cabinet with 4 drawers: H: 59.5 / W: 88 / D: 42 cm (drawer height: 6 cm)
- A cabinet with 2 drawers: H: 59.5 / W: 88 / D: 42 cm (drawer height: 5 cm)
- A smaller storage cabinet: H: 42 / W: 88 / D: 32 cm
- A vitrine: H: 42 / W: 88 / D: 32 cm
- A drop-front door cabinet: H: 42 / W: 88 / D: 32 cm (depth when fully opened: 67 cm)
- 4 shelves, 21 cm deep
- 1 shelf, 33 cm deep
- 4 vertical supports, each 206 cm long
- Metal pins for assembly
The bookcase’s design allows you to adjust each component according to your needs, with the flexibility to move shelves and cabinets lower, higher, or interchange them. The presented arrangement is just one example.
Our team has checked the bookcase, confirming it remains in excellent original condition with minimal signs of use considering its age. We have ensured that all components fit together seamlessly and that all drawers and doors work smoothly. The wood has been cleaned and protected with layers of Danish oil to enhance the natural beauty of the wood grain. A fantastic rare piece in fantastic condition.
