Description
This Scandinavian freestanding wall unit in teak comes from Norway from the 1960s. It is a completely modular shelving system model called “Ergo,” designed by John Texmon and Einar Blindheim for Blindheim Mobelfabrikk.
Overall set size is: H.: 199 / W.: 165 / D.: 42.5 cm
It features a practical dresser with 3 drawers, a sliding-doors cabinet, an expository shelf for vinyl records, pictures, or plates, three shelves, including two with decorative sides, and a compact desk-shelf, suitable for a laptop or reading. The last one creates a nice, discreet working space. It is a great space-saving alternative to traditional desks. The large desk-shelf can also be placed lower, and thus one can expose large items like vases, sculptures, etc. Slightly curved cabinets make an organic, warm impression, and sculptural rails create an elegant and grand-looking statement. This piece is perfect for a bedroom or living room, even for an office dining room. It is very versatile and creates a very decorative, sculpture-like effect.
Additionally, the set’s authenticity is confirmed by the “Made in Norway” inscription on the back of the cabinet and shelves.
This shelving system includes:
- a sliding doors cabinet H.: 43 / W.: 78.5 / D.: 23 cm
- dresser H.: 45 / W.: 78.5 / D.: 40 cm (drawer’s height 12 cm)
- plate or vinyl record holder
- a shelf 21 cm depth
- two shelves with sides 21 cm depth
- 3 teak supports 199 cm high
- brass hangers
The wall unit has been renovated. All doors work properly and smoothly. The wood has been cleaned with professional compounds and finished with layers of Danish oil to enhance the beauty of the grain. Overall, it is in great vintage condition, with absolutely minor signs of use.
We have over 200 vintage shelves from the mid-20th century. We offer them in various sets. If you are looking for other types of wood or a larger unit, please contact us.
