This rare scandinavian modular wall-mounted shelving “Kaukas”, made in Finland 1950s. is a prime example of Scandinavian modernism. This piece showcases a perfect balance of functionality and minimalist elegance, crafted in rich teak wood.

The unit comprises adjustable open shelves, a drop-down front cabinet with 4 drawers that can be used as a bar cabinet, or a small secretaire, when hung higher and a cabinet with sliding doors. The brass hanging brackets enhance its floating aesthetic, making it an elegant yet practical addition to any modern or mid-century-inspired interior.

The unit features also a display shelf, for your favourit magazines, vinyl records, or comic books. The absolutely special feature is the rounded shape of all the cabinets and shelves. This work and carpentry skills demanding detail, shows the quality of the design and generous use of wood moldings.

Perfect to use as a home office, display unit, or bookshelf, this shelving system is a fine example of Scandinavian craftsmanship. Its modular design allows for flexible arrangement, allownig to hang each part, higher, lower and also interchange them.

We vaery rarely have any wall units from Finland, so it is a great find for the vintage furniture collectors, still very practical piece, that can serve many more decades.

The wall unit has been renovated. All doors and drawers have been checked and functioned smoothly. The wood has been cleaned and refinished with layers of Danish oil. It has a beautiful low sheen luster with beautiful exposition of the grain. The brass hardware was gently cleaned, but we left some patina to show the age of unit.

Overall the wall unit is in excellent condition with absolutely minor traces of use.
