Description
The stunning pair of teak lounge chairs, model 128, were designed by renowned Danish designer Grete Jalk for France & Son, and later distributed by Cado. Cado was growing rapidly in the 1960s and, in the latter part of the decade, acquired France & Son. It is very rare to see these chairs with the Cado emblem, but here it is perfectly preserved on both chairs.
The chairs are a perfect representation of the Scandinavian design movement. The frame is made from high-quality solid teak, a material known for its rich, warm tones, smooth grain, and extreme durability. The model 128 has a minimalist, streamlined form. The structure is characterized by gently curved armrests and a clean-lined frame, reflecting the functional yet sophisticated aesthetic of Scandinavian design. The solid wood legs are slightly tapered, providing a light and balanced feel.
The chairs feature square, button-tufted cushions reupholstered in premium full-aniline leather. The cushions are thick and rest on coil springs, which add extra comfort. The deep button tufting provides additional softness, and the cushions fit snugly into the wooden frame. Despite its minimalist design, the chair incorporates ergonomic considerations, offering both support and relaxation. The angled backrest and slightly reclined seating position make it ideal for lounging.
The frames of both chairs are perfectly preserved. The wood has been treated with professional oils that further enhance its natural beauty. The new leather upholstery has given them a refreshed look and restored their former elegance.
