Pair of PH 5 white pendant lamps by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, Denmark 1960s
Description
Pair of white PH5 lamps designed by Poul Henningsen for the lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen. PH5 is one of the most well-known pendant Danish lights first introduced in 1958 and has since become an iconic piece of mid-century modern design. The purpose of the PH5 design was to provide glare-free lighting, achieved by the lampshade with several concentric shades working together to diffuse the light and prevent any harsh glare. The lamp also features a curved, trumpet-shaped reflector, which directs light downwards, creating a soft, warm glow.
Over the years, Louis Poulsen has produced the PH5 in various colors, the most famous in white and in the later edition blue, red, and orange.
The presented set is white and has blue plates and violet details of the construction. Overall, fantastic vintage original condition without any significant scratches or dents. Some of the discs can be “off “, but it does not spoil the aesthetics of the lamps and it is a common feature as aluminium is a soft material. It is not visible when lamps are hung, as on the pictures. Manufacturer’s label preserved. Original wiring with 128 cm and long cord, can be extended or shorten upon request.
