Extremely functional mid-century modular wall unit in teak designed in the 1960s by Poul Cadovius, the father of world’s first wall-mounted shelving systems characterized by its flexibility and space-saving qualities and made by his Company Cado.
Presented wall unit features minimalist design, brilliant carpentry and attention to detail, especially visible in the nicely integrated handles and beautifully woven front of one of the cabinets.
The set includes one spacious cabinet with sliding doors and two inner shelves; one display cabinet with sandblasted gold royal-like pattern on glass; two cabinets with drop-front doors, from which one can serve as a bar cabinet and the other one as secretaire; a neat console with two elegant drawers and storage cavities, and eleven shelves of varying depth.
This piece of furniture will elegantly fill an entire wall, providing plenty of space to store and display books and decorations. At the same time, thanks to the large spaces between the components and aesthetically pleasing yet sturdy mounting system, it does not give the impression of being overwhelmed.
One of the cabinets can serve as a hidden desk. With its inner shelf for documents, laptop and accessories is an excellent alternative to a traditional desk and is ideal for creating discreet home office space in your living room.
This shelving system is entirely modular, all the parts can be interchanged and set up upon one’s will, using an easy system with brass hangers and wooden supports inserted into solid wood rails. The shown setup is just an example.
It consists of:
- a display cabinet: H: 33 / W: 80 / D: 24 cm
- a cabinet with sliding doors: H: 42 / W: 80 / D: 37 cm
- big cabinet with drop-front doors (a hidden desk): H: 42 / W: 80 / D: 43 cm (depth when fully open: 74 cm)
- small cabinet with drop-front doors (a bar cabinet): H: 33 / W: 80 / D: 35 cm (depth when fully open: 57 cm)
- a console with drawers: H: 25/ W: 80 / D: 30 cm (internal drawers height: 7 and 10 cm)
- 8 shelves: 20 cm deep
- 2 shelves: 24 cm deep
- 1 shelf: 30 cm deep
- 5 wooden wall rails 198 cm long
- brass hangers for mounting
Our team has checked the wall unit. It is in great original condition with minimal signs of use related to its age. Some shelves have “Made in Denmark” engraving, which confirms the authenticity of the origin of the piece. We have made sure that all mechanisms and montage system work properly and smoothly. The wood has been cleaned and preserved with layers of Danish oil to enhance the beauty of the teak wood grain.
