Description
This uniquely designed pair of single beds is a perfect example of Scandinavian mid-century design principles, with a touch of playfulness in the shape. Although the designer is unknown, the attached label indicates that their origin is closely linked to Silkeborg, a significant center for furniture manufacturing in Denmark during the mid-century era. Regardless of whether they were made by a large, well-known furniture manufacturer or a small workshop, the quality of their craftsmanship is unquestionable.
The pair features beautifully streamlined and minimalist wooden frames, crafted from warm-toned teak wood. The headboards and footboards are gently curved with rounded edges, softening the overall rectangular form. The medium-height construction offers excellent support and comfort for lounging or reading. The wood has been expertly carved and joined, with no visible screws, ensuring a seamless look. Each bed stands on slightly tapered, elegantly sharpened legs, which are angled outward, adding a sense of lightness and visual balance to the design. The entire wooden structure is built to last for decades, providing enduring comfort, and the assembly of the side panels is simple and intuitive.
The original spring frames are in excellent condition and, despite the passage of time, still perform their function perfectly. The wooden frames have been cleaned and treated with protective oil to enhance the grain. All visible signs of aging, such as the patina on the metal frames, are entirely natural and do not detract from the beds’ aesthetic. The label on the frames not only points to the origin of the beds but also serves as an interesting historical detail.
Please note that the bed does not come with a mattress. The recommended mattress dimensions are 85 cm by 190 cm, with a height of at least 7 cm for proper comfort.
