Description
Visually appealing and extremely functional, this Danish shelving system in teak was designed in the 1960s by Kai Kristiansen, an icon of Danish design, for the renowned furniture manufacturer Feldballes Møbelfabrik.
Designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional, this wall unit is crafted from warm-hued teak wood, showcasing a beautiful wood grain pattern both inside and outside the cabinets. The use of high-quality teak wood and veneer ensures the piece’s durability and longevity. Attention to detail is evident in simple yet elegant and precise carpentry joints, highlighting the artistry of Danish craftsmanship.
This beautiful modular wall unit consists of eight stylish shelves, one of which features a “Made in Denmark” sticker; four nicely veneered metal rails, one cabinet with glass doors, one drop-front door cabinet and last but not least one cabinet with sliding doors.
This piece of furniture will elegantly fill an entire wall, providing plenty of space to store and display books and decorations. At the same time, thanks to the large spaces between the components, it does not give the impression of being overwhelmed. This combination of open shelving and closed cabinets offers a versatile mix of display and storage options, making it ideal for living rooms or offices where both aesthetics and organization are crucial.
The wall unit consists of:
- cabinet with glass doors: H: 36 / W: 85.5 / D: 32 cm ( 2 inner shelves)
- drop-front door cabinet: H: 36 / W: 85.5 / D: 32 cm (depth when fully opened: 64 cm)( a small inner shelf and drawer. Drawer height: 2cm)
- cabinet: H: 36 / W: 85.5 / D: 32 cm ( one small inner shelf and two small inner drawers: 3 cm height)
- 3 shelves: 18 cm deep
- 2 shelves: 24 cm deep
- 2 shelves 28: cm deep
- 1 shelf 32: cm deep
- 4 nicely veneered metal rails: 168 cm each
* The width of each shelf is 85.5 cm
Each element is 85.5 cm wide, and the shelving system is entirely modular and can be arranged as needed with an easy system of metal mounts that fit into the rails, allowing for the adjustment and interchange of all parts.
Despite the passage of time, the wall unit is in excellent original condition. Minor traces of use are typical for furniture of this age and are shown in the photos. The manufacturer’s stamp on the back of the shelves confirms its authenticity and high quality. The wood has been cleaned and finished with layers of Danish oil to enhance its natural beauty.
