Description
The Italian Display Unit or room divider designed by Gianluigi Gorgoni for Fratelli Turi in the 1970s epitomizes the opulent Hollywood Regency style. This piece is a masterful blend of functionality and aesthetics, crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
Made from luxurious walnut burl wood, the rich, swirling grain patterns add a sense of depth and visual texture to the piece, making each unit uniquely beautiful. The intricate brass plating enhances its decorative appeal, reflecting light and adding a subtle sheen.
Gorgoni’s design is not merely about visual appeal; it also offers practical versatility. The unit serves as both a display space and a room divider, making it an ideal choice for creating distinct areas within a larger room while maintaining an open and airy feel. The wood pattern on the back of cabinets reveals the diversity and richness of the wood.
The wall unit is divided into three vertical sections, providing a lot of elegant storage options. The bottom part includes two spacious cabinets on the sides and a chest of drawers in the center. Thick shelves provide visual coherence and two smoked glass display cabinets above, adorned with brass accents offer an elegant space to showcase prized possessions.
In the context of the Hollywood Regency style, this piece captures the essence of luxury and drama. The walnut burl wood provides a warm, inviting tone, while the brass accents introduce a sophisticated contrast, embodying the lavish and theatrical spirit of the era.
The surprisingly designed side panels, inspired by Japanese, geometric, and minimalist style, provide a wonderful contrast to the richness and luxury of the cabinets. They serve not only an aesthetic function but also support and clearly divide the unit into three sections.
The wall unit is in perfect original condition. We have only cleaned the wood and glass. All the components work smoothly. Gianluigi Gorgoni’s pieces are often mistakenly attributed to designers like Romeo Rega or Willy Rizzo, but the distinct style and craftsmanship of this display unit are unmistakably his. This piece is not just a functional item of furniture but a work of art, reflecting the elegance and sophistication of the Hollywood Regency era.
