Description
A perfect example of Danish mid-century modern design philosophy – modular wall unit created by the design duo Thygesen & Sørensen for Hansen & Guldborg furniture company. Made from teak wood and teak veneer—materials known for their warm color, durability, and longevity—it is built to last for many more decades. The handles are sculpted from solid wood and masterful joinery is showcased in the dovetailing of the drawer fronts, a demanding and increasingly rare technique in modern furniture making. The variety of components offers a versatile mix of display and storage options.
Adjustable shelves allow for the display of personal items or art, regardless of size. In a compact bar cabinet, you can discreetly store glasses and spirits, while a handy tray allows you to prepare and serve drinks without worrying about spills or damaging the furniture.
This wall system is fully modular. The arrangement of the shelves and cabinets can be easily changed. The assembly system is simple and intuitive, with components mounted on solid wood rails using brass hangers and metal pins.
The set includes:
- a dresser: H: 49 / W: 89.5 / D: 40 cm (internal height of the drawers: two upper – 4 cm, three lower – 10 cm)
- a cabinet: H: 49 / W: 89.5 / D: 40 cm
- a bar cabinet: H: 40 / W: 89.5 / D: 30 cm (depth when fully opened: 66 cm)
- 1 expository shelf: W: 89.5 / D: 35 cm
- 8 shelves: W: 89.5 / D: 30 cm
- 4 teak montage rails, each 207 cm long
- brass hangers
Despite the passage of nearly six decades, this piece remains in perfect original condition. The drawers are clean and operate smoothly, and the wood has been treated with professional compounds to enhance its natural beauty. The engraving confirms the authenticity of the furniture’s origin.
