Description
This teak wall unit by Hansen and Guldborg comes from the 1950s and embodies the essence of Danish mid-century modern design—refined simplicity, exceptional craftsmanship, and functional elegance. Constructed from rich teak wood and teak veneer, the system showcases the warm tone and grain that define Scandinavian furniture of the era.
What is most interesting is that it was most likely made before the official opening of the Hansen and Gulborg brand. On the label on the back, it says “Hansen og Hansen” (in Danish, Hansen and Hansen), but Jacob Gulborg is also on it, not as a co-owner, though. It was made probably just before they started the partnership.
Adjustable shelves allow for the display of personal items or art, regardless of size. In a compact bar cabinet, you can discreetly store glasses and spirits, while a handy tray allows you to prepare and serve drinks without worrying about spills or damaging the furniture. The sliding doors cabinet will give you enough space for your personal items or audio equipment. When you remove one of the deeper shelves, you can use the remaining one as a compact deskshelf. This set can easily serve both in an office space and in a living or dining room.
Extremely versatile piece of furniture!
This wall system is fully modular. The arrangement of the shelves and cabinets can be easily changed. The assembly system is simple and intuitive, with components mounted on solid wood rails using brass hangers and metal pins. The setup in the picture is just an example.
The set includes:
- a sliding doors cabinet: H: 50 / W: 89 / D: 40 cm
- a bar cabinet: H: 40 / W: 89 / D: 30 cm (depth when fully opened: 67 cm)
- 5 shelves 22 cm depth
- 2 shelves 30 cm depth
- 3 teak montage rails, each 207 cm long
- brass hangers
The unit has been renovated. Old layers of finish have been removed, and new layers of Danish oil have been applied. The engraving Danish Furniture Makers Control confirms the authenticity of the furniture’s origin. There is a shipping label to the client on the back of the bar cabinet as well.
