Set of two Danish bookcases designed by Johannes Sorth and manufactured by Nexo Møbelfabrik in Bornholm in the 1960s. ‘Bornholmer bookcases’ refer to a specific type of bookshelves that is named after the Danish island of Bornholm and known for its sleek design and functionality, often featuring clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and high-quality craftsmanship. These bookshelves are valued for their versatility and can be used to display books, decorative items, or other belongings. The set consists of two separate pieces with the dimensions as follows:
- H: 181,5/ W: 100/D: 28 cm with three adjustable shelves and one permanently fixed
- H: 181,5/W:100/ D: 42,5 cm with three adjustable shelves and a cabinet with sliding doors and one adjustable inside shelf, 35cm deep with five fitting possibilities
Both bookcases are made out of teak veneer with solid teak accents. They feature five removable shelves of varying depths: 21 cm, 22 cm, 23.5 cm 25.5 cm that may be set according to one needs. Legs are removable for better transport.
Two will fit together in one room, creating an impressive display for books and decorations, or separately in different rooms as a functional piece of furniture. They are very decorative and extremely well made.
Overall is in excellent original vintage condition with minor traces of use, slightly visible on the top. They have been cleaned and re-oiled with Danish oil. They can also be sold separately upon request.
