Description
This beautiful rosewood Danish floor to celling wallunit, designed by Poul Cadovius in the was manufactured by Cado in Denmark in the 1960s. It hangs on 3 solid wood extension rails with adjustable metal foot on the top and bottom. It is an entirely modular system that one can freely arrange according to his taste. Simple, angular silhouette with almost no ornamentation or embellishments makes it a perfect addition to any type of interior. Despite its minimalist appearance, the combination of craftsmanship and meticulous choice of rosewood-known for its rich, deep tones and striking grain patterns-makes the piece a true decoration.
The unit features two cabinets with beautiful wood grain for the necessary storage space and 7 shelves for storing books and other accessories. It seems to be designed specifically for enthusiasts of vinyl records. One cabinet provides plenty of storage space for favorite LPs, and its top is perfect for a gramophone. Second one its a drop front cabinet that can be perfect workspace, or a bar. Typical of Cadovius’s design, the front finished with thin rosewood strips is found in most of his wall units, as well as in pieces like the Governor sofa. That very decorative Cado-made mark is a classic that will never go out of fashion. But furthermore, exceptional brass holders of the shelves create this elegant, beautiful visual appearance, which distinguishes a Danish style in the mid-century modern design.
The set includes:
- a vinyl records cabinet: H.: 42 / W.: 80 / D.: 38 cm (width of individual compartments: 10 cm)
- drop doors secretarie H.: 42 / W.: 80 / D.: 38 cm (depth with door open 72 cm; internal drawers height 3 cm)
- 4 shelves 24 cm depth
- 2 shelves 30 cm depth
- 2 shelves 20 cm depth
- 3 rosewood montage rails, each 264 cm long (with possibility of regulation)
- brass hardware
Despite the passage of nearly six decades, this piece remains in fantastic original condition. The wood has been cleaned and treated with professional compounds to enhance its natural beauty. The engraving “Made in Denmark” located on the back of the components confirms the authenticity of the furniture’s origin. It’s highly recommended to mount this set on both the floor and ceiling. If you would like to extend or shorten this unit, please let us know in advance, we can customize it, but it works best in original range 254-264cm.
