Description
Large, visually appealing and extremely functional, this Danish shelving system in rosewood was designed in the 1960s by Kai Kristiansen, an icon of Danish design, for the renowned furniture manufacturer Feldballes Møbelfabrik.
Designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional, this wall unit is crafted from rosewood, showcasing a beautiful wood grain pattern both inside and outside the cabinets. The use of high-quality rosewood and rosewood veneer ensures the piece’s durability and longevity. Attention to detail is evident in the sculpted side panels, handles, and precise carpentry joints, highlighting the artistry of Danish craftsmanship. These elements, made from solid rosewood wood, also provide additional structural reinforcement.
This piece of furniture will elegantly fill an entire wall, providing plenty of space to store and display books and decorations. At the same time, thanks to the large spaces between the components, it does not give the impression of being overwhelmed. This combination of open shelving and closed cabinets offers a versatile mix of display and storage options, making it ideal for living rooms or offices where both aesthetics and organization are crucial.
The wall unit consists of:
- 2x display cabinet height: 36 / width: 85.5 (1 with 2 sliding glass doors), one with one shelf, the other with two shelves
- Console table height: 23 / width: 85.5 / depth: 33, 4x drawers (internal height: 8)
- Cabinet with a lamp inside, opening from the top, height: 50 / depth: 85.5 / width: 46, 1x drawer (internal height: 2)
- 1 “Comics” shelf 32×85.5
- 6 shelves depth: 18 cm
- 2 shelves depth: 24 cm
- 1 shelf depth: 28 cm
- 5 lacquered metal rails 1.75 m
* Each shelf is 85.5 cm wide
* The lamp requires one fluorescent tube bulb. Cable length: 0.5m
The shelving system is entirely modular and can be arranged as needed with an easy system of metal mounts that fit into the rails, allowing for the adjustment and interchange of all parts.
Additionally, the wall unit features 5 elegant lacquered rails, and the display cabinet retains its original glass panels, which is rare for furniture of this age. This set includes a rare addition of a lamp inside one of the cabinets. The cabinet door automatically activates the light when opened.
In summary, this wall unit has a large number of components that allow it to fulfil a wide range of roles in a living room.
Despite the passage of time, the wall unit is in excellent original condition. Minor traces of use are typical for furniture of this age and are shown in the photos. The manufacturer’s sticker on the back of the shelves confirms its authenticity and high quality. The wood has been cleaned and traeted with profesiional compounds.
