Description
This Scandinavian mid-century free standing teak wall unit is a modular shelving system manufactured in the 1960s, most likely from Norway. The slightly curved edges make a warm impression, and the sculptural rails create an elegant and grand-looking statement.
A glass cabinet and four shelves provide a space to display books and decorations. However, the long sideboard with two sliding-doors cabinets and four black-fronted drawers ensures ample storage capacity. The right side of the sideboard features four inside drawers and two compartments, and the left part has one shelf. The right cabinet has a lockable door, but the key, unfortunately, is not preserved.
The wall unit shows the mastery of Scandinavian design, visible in details like decorative sculptured handles. Shelves and the vitrine can be arranged according to one’s preference, allowing for a customizable setup. The key point of it is the wonderfully crafted bottom sideboard with sliding doors and black varnished drawers, rare to find.
This wall unit includes:
- a long cabinet (sideboard) with drawers and sliding door: H: 53 cm / W: 140 / D: 45 cm; drawer height: 5 cm (four black drawers on top), inside drawers height: 5 cm
- a vitrine cabinet: H: 34 cm / W: 69 cm / D: 26 cm, with a glass shelf inside and glass doors
- four shelves: 19 cm deep
- three teak legs-supports: 210 cm high
The unit is in excellent vintage condition and has been checked by our team. The interiors are clean, and all drawers and doors work smoothly. The wood has been refreshed with Danish oil. However, it is important to note that the unit does not include a key. The overall condition is fantastic for its age, with only minor traces of use, like a light ring stain on the top of the cabinet.
This mid-century piece will add a touch of classic Scandinavian design to any interior, offering both functionality and timeless style.
