This 1970s aniline leather 2.5 seater sofa in cognac hue, is a standout piece of mid-century design. Although we are not certain whether the design originated from Børge Mogensen’s hand, it undoubtedly reflects his design philosophy, is closely linked to the work of the designer from that period, and is grounded in the solid foundations of Danish design.

The sofa is upholstered in full-grain, natural aniline leather, renowned for its unparalleled quality and tactile appeal. Aniline leather is the most premium grade of leather, derived from the top layer of the hide where the natural grain remains untouched. It is dyed using plant based soluble dyes without a surface pigment, preserving its natural beauty and showcasing unique textures and subtle markings, making each piece truly one of a kind. This premium finish matures beautifully, developing a rich patina over time that adds depth and character. The leather on this sofa is thick and durable, offering a perfect balance of strength and comfort. It is also one of the most long lasting materials and can be used for decades, possibly even for a century.
The sofa is in original condition with deep patina demonstrating the lasting quality of this kind of leather, that has another long decades to go.
Minor signs of use, such as age-appropriate wrinkles small scratches and patina, add character and tell the story of the piece’s history. One of the cushions is a little more worn off as visible on the pictures. We have another sofa from the same manufacturer, that can create a perfect set.
