Beschreibung
This modular teak wall unit labeled “Veggen de Luxe” was designed during the mid-century period by the Norwegian design duo Torbjørn Afdal and Rolf Hesland for Bruksbo Tegnekontor. It was manufactured by Ringerike Møbel- og Trevarefabrikk, a prominent Norwegian furniture maker.
The Veggen de Luxe emerged as part of a broader trend in the 1960s to create space-saving furniture tailored to smaller post-war apartments. Its modular components—including shelves, brackets, and cabinets—fit seamlessly together without visible hardware. The variety of elements offers a versatile mix of display and storage options. Crafted from high-quality teak wood and teak veneer, known for their warm tones, durability, and longevity, the piece is built to endure for decades. The unit features sculpted solid wood handles and dovetailed drawer fronts, a testament to masterful joinery and a technique increasingly rare in modern furniture making.
The wall unit is designed as a flexible system, allowing shelves and cabinets to be rearranged freely. The assembly system is simple and intuitive, with components mounted on solid wood rails using brass hangers and metal pins.
Das Set enthält:
- cabinet: H: 40 / W: 70 / D: 37 cm
- cabinet with glass doors: H: 40 / W: 70 / D: 31 cm
- console: H: 21 / W: 70 / D: 31 (internal height of drawers: 6 cm)
- 4 shelves: W: 70 / D: 20 cm
- 3 teak montage rails, each 210 cm long
Despite the passage of many decades, this piece remains in perfect original condition. The drawers are clean and operate smoothly, and the wood has been treated with professional compounds to enhance its natural beauty. A producer’s stamp inside one cabinet authenticates its Norwegian origin.
For added stability, we recommend securing the unit to the wall.
