This exquisite mid-century modern dining set, designed by renowned Italian designers Ico and Luisa Parisi for MIM (Mobili Italiani Moderni), exemplifies the elegance and functionality of 1950s and 1960s Italian design. The set includes a round extension rosewood dining table, model Olbia, and a set of seven rosewood chairs, showcasing the Parisis’ signature style of combining sleek lines, elegant forms, and high-quality materials.
The Olbia table is a remarkable piece of mid-century modern furniture. Constructed from prized rosewood, the table features a meticulously crafted surface with a starburst-patterned veneer, highlighting the natural beauty of the wood. The geometrically designed, robust legs, joined by wooden bent structures and complemented by cool metal feet, create a visually striking and structurally sound base. The table’s innovative extension mechanism allows the top to slide apart, revealing a hidden two-part leaf that can be easily extended, transforming the table from a compact round form to an elongated oval shape.
