This classic and highly functional Italian mid century wall unit in teak, manufactured in the 1970s, perfectly embodies the timeless design of the era. It was most likely inspired by the multifunctional and innovative Selex system, a notable design contribution from Turin’s furniture factory Industria Mobili Barovero (IMB). The teak wood veneer with rich grain, brass details, beautifully shaped elegant handles, and black-painted steel uprights all contribute to a design that epitomizes the aesthetics of Italian shelving from the 60s and 70s.
Stylish and roomy, the wall unit features four impressively spacious cabinets, two of which are lockable and can serve as bar cabinets for a sizable collection of spirits and glasses or for securely storing items. Additionally, it includes two consoles with two drawers each for organized storage of smaller items and ten deep shelves that provide ample room for displaying books, plants, and decorations. With its teak-veneered back, the unit is completely double-sided, making it suitable for use as a functional room divider. This combination of open shelving with closed cabinets and consoles offers a versatile mix of display and storage options, making it ideal for living rooms or offices where both aesthetics and organization are crucial.
The highlight of the piece is the details. Finishes at the top of metal racks, slats on the edges of drawers, and aesthetic joinings of each component—all made in brass—give the piece an extremely elegant look that only Italians can provide. Tiny metal elements attached to the racks serve as decoration but can also be used as book holders.
This wall unit is entirely modular; all shelves and cabinets share the same width and can be moved lower, higher, and interchanged according to your needs. All components are mounted on black-painted steel racks with adjustable brass feet, providing stability on uneven floors
