Ico Parisi and Luisa Parisi, renowned figures in mid-20th century Italian design, crafted this remarkable set of rosewood chairs for MIM (Mobili Italiani Moderni) in the 1950s. Constructed from luxuriant dark rosewood, the chairs boast a minimalist frame that embodies the essence of mid-century modern aesthetics. Despite their simplicity, the chairs are far from plain. The design is highlighted by uniquely sculpted legs in a hexagonal prism shape and geometrically faceted frame ends that add visual interest to the otherwise streamlined silhouette. Additionally, the ergonomically curved backrests are designed to offer better support and comfort, showcasing the Parisis’ attention to both form and function.
Each chair has been newly upholstered in vibrant cobalt blue leather, a choice that not only enhances comfort and practicality but also provides a striking contrast to the deep, natural tones of the rosewood. By harmonizing the rich, dark wood with bold blue leather, we aimed to epitomize the Parisis’ dedication to blending simplicity with elegance even more.
The set is in great original condition, they are absolutely minor signs of use on the wood, confirming their age and provenance. New upholstery was necessary to restore the chairs to their former beauty and full functionality. The wooden frames have been cleaned and protected with professional compounds. Thanks to its timeless elegance and innovative design, this set is a beautiful, thoughtful creation resulting from the collaboration between MIM and the Parisis, now highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts. We offer a standard set of six chairs and an additional one, so it can be used in other spaces as well.
We also have a rosewood table from the same home and offer it as a set.
