Description

This Scandinavian wall unit was inspired by the modular shelving system Veggen de Luxe, designed in the 1950s by Torbjørn Afdal and Rolf Hesland for the Norwegian manufacturer Bruksbo Tegnekontor. Veggen de Luxe had a major influence on the development of other Norwegian wall systems. When it was launched in the mid-1950s, it quickly became a success.

The presented shelving unit features the same characteristic shelf mounting design. The system of brass hangers was utilized by many Scandinavian designers of modular furniture, but Afdal and Hesland chose to extend them underneath the shelves as well, enhancing their stability and load capacity.

This wall unit is crafted from high-quality teak wood and teak veneer, known for their warm tones, durability, and longevity. It will endure many more decades. The variety of elements offers a versatile mix of display and storage options, aligning with the idea of maximum functionality with minimal use of space. Additionally, the small console can successfully serve as an additional workspace with a laptop.

The wall unit is designed as a flexible system, allowing all elements to be rearranged freely. The assembly system is simple and intuitive, with components mounted on solid wood rails using brass hangers and metal pins.

The set includes:

  • a dresser: H: 37 / W: 80 / D: 33 cm (internal height of the drawers: two upper – 7 cm, two lower – 10 cm)
