Italian mid-century free standing cabinet with a shelf, 1950s
Italian mid-century free standing cabinet with a shelf, 1950s
Description
This minimalist, 1960s Italian ribbon stripe mahogany wall unit is strongly inspired by the iconic String shelving system designed by Nils Strinning for String Design AB in 1949. Although contrary to the String system, it is a free-standing unit.
The open design of the shelving system maximizes storage capacity without overwhelming the space. Featuring one deep shelf and a spacious cabinet with two inner shelves, it offers ample room for books, decorative items, and other personal belongings while maintaining a tidy and organized appearance.
The piece is crafted from high-quality materials such as ribbon stripe mahogany and steel. The combination of these materials ensures durability and a sophisticated finish.
The components are designed to be easily put together without the need for specialized tools, making it accessible to set up and reconfigure as needed. Additionally, its minimalist design makes it an extremely versatile piece of furniture, suitable for a range of applications from home offices and living rooms to kitchens and libraries.
Our team has taken special care to ensure a gentle restoration while maintaining the authenticity of this vintage wall unit. We have made sure that all components fit together seamlessly. The wood has been cleaned and treated with protective oil to enhance the grain. The wall unit is in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of normal usage and age.
