This minimalist yet highly functional, modular bookcase in cherry wood strikingly resembles Mogens Koch’s famous and timeless design from 1928, the “MK Bookcase System.” The Koch bookcase has been produced continuously for more than 80 years, and this particular set most likely comes from the 1970s.

This particular furniture set, with its two square bookcase units and one dresser reminiscent of a library card catalog cabinet, offers almost endless flexibility with countless elements. The basic module, the bookcase with its inner compartments, can be easily adjusted according to the size of the books by changing the height of the inner shelves. The design also allows individual units to be stacked or arranged in various configurations to fit different spaces and needs. This flexibility makes it suitable for various room sizes and purposes.

Each unit of the bookcase is constructed with precision, featuring clean lines and careful joinery. The shelves are designed to support substantial weight. The cherry wood’s rich color and fine grain, along with small details like solid cherry wood drawer handles, add charm and warmth to the minimalist and geometrical form.

The wood was cleaned and treated with protective oil to enhance the grain. All three units are in excellent vintage condition with minimal normal signs of usage and age.
