Danish teak dresser with hidden vanity in the style of Arne Hovmand Olsen, 1960s
Danish teak dresser with hidden vanity in the style of Arne Hovmand Olsen, 1960s
Description
This elegant and multifunctional Danish dresser with an integrated vanity dates back to the 1960s. Inspired by Arne Hovmand-Olsen’s dresser design for Mogens Kold, it exemplifies the timeless craftsmanship and minimalist aesthetics of mid-century Danish furniture.
The piece is constructed from richly grained teak with warm finish. Its compact yet versatile design includes three spacious drawers for storage, sleekly adorned with sculpted wooden handles. The solid wood drawer fronts are joined with dovetail joints, a durable technique rarely seen in modern furniture.
Functionality is at the heart of the design. The top section reveals a hidden vanity with a hinged lid that opens to expose a mirror and smaller drawers, perfect for organizing personal items. Additionally, the top drawer transforms into a small, convenient tabletop. Raised on tapered legs, the dresser maintains a light and elegant profile, ensuring it fits seamlessly into modern interiors.
Despite the passage of time, the dresser remains in excellent condition. The wood has been cleaned and refreshed with professional compounds that enhance its structure and highlight its natural beauty. To restore full functionality, the old mirror has been replaced.
